More than seven decades after Brown v. Board of Education, American public schools remain highly segregated by both race and socioeconomic status. But some school districts across the country are bucking the trend to increase access to diverse learning environments through changes to their student assignment plans, enrollment outreach efforts, and programmatic offerings. This session will feature leaders from three school districts part of The Bridges Collaborative, a network focused on promoting integration in schools and neighborhoods, that have recently led efforts to increase diversity in their schools supported by federal grants. Leaders will share strategies and lessons learned.
